I had this with my third and did have a long hospital stay. It was tough but we did get through it. It was actually a great time of spiritual consolation and deepening faith. I hope it is the same for your family. May God bless you.
Oh, praise God! What a lovely consolation after your profound loss last year. As a childless 65-y/o woman, nothing gives me deeper joy than watching large families pile into the pews at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church here in KCMO. And at the end of the public rosary before Mass, when we get to the additional prayers and I join others in praying, "O Lord, grant us many holy Catholic families," I think of all these blessed families and your family, too! Be well, be at peace, we're here when you have time. Not going anywhere.
This time that you are spending with your children will be and always remain a huge part of their formation. Not all families are as blessed. Treasure this time because it will be gone before you know it, even though it seems so far away now.
