Boy you thought you were bound to not make friends in the past by things you said? Kennedy, this one is REALLY gonna kick the hornet’s nest. Must be a day that ends in “y”.

But gosh this needed to be said though. Having been around enough of these celebrity priests or knowing others who adore them…heck having been in a modern Novus Ordo seminary, these celebrity priests and being “Fr. Cool” or “Fr. Bodybuilder” as I might call them is encouraged and celebrated…especially the hardcore exercise part where these guys are handsome bodybuilders that play in bands, run marathons and dead lift for fun, etc. Ugh it drove me up the wall. Even some had the soccer (football) haircut with a fade on bottom and tons of flowing hair on top. Oh it made me insane. You’re also supposed to have this larger than life, outgoing personality (ie befitting celebrities). But Kennedy, you’re exactly right: we can’t assume these men are not worldly enough to where this won’t affect them.

Garrigou-Lagrange said all priests are supposed to be in the Illuminative Way by ordination and bishops on the Unitive Way. Looking at the Novus Ordo Church as a whole, that is more and more laughable by the day. Very sad. God have mercy on our priests because the devil will drag far more souls through them than anyone else.

Thank you for saying this! I do cringe every time I see a flashy over glorified priest on You Tube.

I was listening to a Bishop Fulton Sheen talk and he mentioned that Jesus did not have a personality. He was only here to be the sacrificial Word made flesh. He was the Son of God incarnate filled with only Truth and the virtues void of any human personality traits which all include a fallen nature.

This is what is Christ like in a Priest.

Do you want no competition or what? Too many lay Catholic people behind a mic, no offense but it also has to stop. You also charge for a full show so what’s with that, Kennedy?

Kennedy has said numerous times before that if the Bishops were doing their job their would be no need for Lay Catholic Apologists, and he could go back to teaching. But it seems for now that the hierarchy isn't concerned about Tradition.

Please stop watching my stuff, it seems to make you upset. Also, my books are for sale in Society bookstores all over the world, in multiple languages.

Kennedy is a layman catechist/apologist that happens to have a larger audience than your average parish catechist, just like many other faithful men that have an audience of faithful "students". When I learn from another who is more knowledgeable than me, I am his student. That's a good thing to spread the truth of the faith.

He is certainly allowed to make a living for his family. Or would you have every non-priest theologist or apologist that's published a book give all their books away for free to the detriment of themselves and their family?

You need to get off your high horse, ratchet down the jealousy, and take that attitude to confession.

Here's a couple links to a Fr. Mike Schmidt interview with Patrick Lencioni on the danger of popularity specially among priests. I thought it was pretty good.

Hi Kennedy - I wasn't going to listen to this episode because the only celebrity priest I've ever heard of is Fr. Mike Schmitz and I don't pay him any attention. But, I needed something to listen to while walking my dog this morning.

I expected you to mention "vanity" at some point and you never did. That surprised me.

It's interesting that you posted this on the feast day of St. Bernardine of Siena. I read yesterday in "Praying with the Saints by Season," by Fr. Patrick Troadec, how St. Bernardine "stigmatized the use of jewels and other objects of women's vanity ... he built a pyre in which he burnt games, wigs, cosmetics, and mirrors as the crowd applauded."

Pray for us, St. Bernardine 🙏

"Covet"? I think you might mean "avert" thine eyes. I have been saying that to my adult sons since they were very little whenever something immodest is within view.

Two things came to my mind while watching your video. "He must increase, but I must decrease." (John 3.30) and Pope Leo XIV quoting St Ignatius in his first homily: "Then I will truly be a disciple of Jesus Christ, when the world no longer seed my body".

No, you don't upset me, I wouldn't be here if you would upset me all the time. I like your stuff. It was just this vide that made me a little upset. I was lead by emotion, having a bad day, and I apologize for the way I approached the issue. My criticism was that I think you missed the point that some of these priests are bringing people into the church. If these are the priests you are actually talking about. Last year an entire family came into the church because of Fr. Mike Schmidt, they listened to his Bible in a Year Podcast and after that they called a parish to join the Catholic Church. I'm not assuming you were talking about him but I guess he is what some women would call good looking. To me he looks ugly, I am a guy so, no offense to Fr. Mike. I hope you don't be offended by my criticism or my pointing at the issue that some of these priests are actually bringing people into the church. The truth would also be that some of these priests are scaring people away from the church. I tho have seen some of these priests in the Spanish speaking world leave the priesthood, at least 4 of them, because I do think they were not ready for the burden of being media priests. Maybe in your video, you were more talking about priests that are more clownish, that do silly stuff to get attention, am I correct? Again you do great work, even though I do not always agree with you, but I am trying to learn from your videos. Blessings to you and yours and Canada.

I'll tell you who I don't trust to teach the truths of the Catholic faith in his fancy-shmancy video productions: Bishop Robert Barron. He's said thing that are heretical. I've closed my ears to him.

I also Listen to the lectures from the Institute of Catholic Culture. A tremendous resource and truly faithful apostolate. Their library of classes is amazing.

Not to take away from you, Kennedy. You all work toward the same goal with God's blessings.

The videos of talks by the Venerable Archbishop Fulton Sheen were instrumental in revivifying my faith after years away from the sacraments. He was given a special gift, charism, mission by God to assist countless people. I pray to him to continue to help me to be unwavering in my faith.

Kennedy is one of the faithful men in these troubled times that God has supplied to help thousands of Catholics remain faithful by discussing difficulties of understanding that can block full belief in the mystical body of Christ. I'm thankful for Kennedy's efforts.

It's interesting you posted this, because I just said this to my husband the other day. There are some excellent lectures by priests (and interviews) on YouTube, but then there are the ones you are referring to. In fact, I received an email this morning from Ticketmaster regarding a presale for one of them who is going on tour! I struggle to understand how they can be removed from worldly things when they have become a tv character and have fans. I think it's dangerous, for all the reasons you stated.

Yep, it's at a large arena, and tickets are $50-$125 each. This priest is the handsome one with the good hair who looks like Don Draper and talks really quickly. I like him ok, but I worry about him.
