I was wondering why that was missing! I just thought, wow guess he just gets right into it lol. Oh well, I know it will still be a very enjoyable and informative read. God bless you and your family Kennedy! And Merry Christmas while still within the Octave of the Nativity.
Our parish began Bible Studies several years ago through a program called Catholic Way Bible Study which was developed by Lavinia Spirito who gives a DVD presentation at each weekly Bible study. I began to attend the year-long study on the book of Genesis which contained the oft-encountered modernist understanding of the Big Bang, long ages, no true Adam and Eve, the charge that belief in supernatural creation in six/24 hour days is Protestant fundamentalism, not Catholicism (although I doubt that Protestants have read the writings of Church Fathers on the Hexameron.) Covid intervened that year, but I think I would have decided that this study of Genesis was not helpful. After that I discovered CWBS’s ties to the CCR. This page from the CWBS I am linking reveals that the head of Renewal Ministries, Peter Herbeck, is on the Board of Directors and since Lavinia lives in the Diocese of Lexington, the spiritual guide for CWBS is none other than Bishop Stowe who allows a woman pretending to be a man to be a hermit in his diocese. In any event, I would not recommend this Bible study.
This is a monumental step towards truth for the Church! I lived in Ann Arbor michigan attending the Catholic pentecostal parish and various Catholic Charismatic prayer meetings. On weekly basis I listened to Father Ed Friede share his encounters with Mother Mary, warrior angels, and saints from the Church Triumphant. All along there existed a colossal amount of scandal. A few years ago, Father Pat Eagan (also from this parish), was publicly found to have molested children dating back to 1970's. I say publicly because it was discovered that the leadership new this but remained silent.
Thanks Kennedy... there is so much confusion in the Church today on this issue...as one who went to these meetings as a youngster with my parents, I am looking forward to reading more about what went on. My parents were very involved for a while..
BTW..... what do you think of the "Healing Masses" in the Novus Ordo? They seem to have a lot of this charismatic influence IMHO...
I guess I just ordered the "Collector's Edition"; Still, Thank you. I've learned a lot from the chapters posted!
When I became Catholic in'96, I used to go to adoration and sing the Tantum ergo", and would joke to my charismatic friends that I sang in tongues all the time! Didn't realize that St Thomas would have agreed. :)
